Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the Federal Government's announcement of increased FAAC allocations, calling it a 'monetary illusion' that masks economic decline. He argued that when adjusted for currency depreciation and inflation, the real value of the allocations has fallen. Atiku cited figures showing that FAAC distributions rose from ₦7.85 trillion in 2019 to ₦21.9 trillion in 2025, but their dollar value dropped from $25.6 billion to $14.6 billion. He urged Nigerians to see through the 'boom' narrative.
