The Lagos State Government and technology experts have called on foreign technology companies to invest in Nigeria and urged local innovators to develop solutions that attract investors. The call was made during the opening ceremony of the two-day GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo and Future Economy Conference 2026 held in Lagos. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasized the theme 'Beyond Connectivity: The Bridge to Sovereign AI and Innovation' and highlighted the government's commitment to digital transformation. He encouraged foreign firms to establish engineering operations, data centres, regional headquarters, and training pipelines in Lagos.
