President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Rt. Hon. Victor O. Ochei Esq, has praised Seun Ogunsakin for breaking a 35-year Grand Slam drought for Nigeria. Ogunsakin became the first Nigerian player to win a Grand Slam main draw singles match since Nduka Odizor at the 1990 Australian Open, achieving the feat at the Junior US Open in New York. The achievement is notable as Ogunsakin is among Africa's Next Gen, with three boys from African nations reaching the main draw at the US Open Junior Championships for the first time since 2003. Ochei described Ogunsakin's victory as a vindication of the NTF board's reforms and grassroots investment.
