Electricity consumers in the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) area have expressed frustration over what they describe as BEDC-induced problems. Complaints include high electricity rates, unreliable supply, unexpected deductions, and mismatches in prepaid-meter usage. Residents in Delta, Edo, and surrounding areas have raised concerns for years about erratic power supply, estimated billing, poor customer service, malfunctioning meters, transformer breakdowns, rising tariffs, and a gap between payment and electricity received. The rollout of prepaid meters was intended to enhance transparency, but many customers are now questioning whether the system has truly improved their experience.
