According to Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Professor Folasade Ogunsola, Open Distance Learning (ODL), known at UNILAG as the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) and repositioned by its Director, Professor Risikat Oladoyin Dauda, awards the same degree without discrimination in value as that awarded to conventional and regular students. Ogunsola noted that with 89 million Nigerian youths aged 15 to 30 seeking to be 'future ready,' the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) must incorporate philosophical intents to neutralize algorithm biases and include African biases. This, she said, would assure outcomes that contribute to building the society Africans need and is adaptable to changes. The remarks were made at the Nurudeen Alao Auditorium on August 25, 2026, during the 5th edition of an event.
