The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced it needs an additional 5,000 health workers to contain the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outbreak, detected on May 15, has spread to six provinces and resulted in 3,175 deaths and over 6,600 confirmed cases. The WHO is working to establish 3,000 beds across Ebola treatment centres to strengthen the response.
