Minister of Works David Umahi has ordered the immediate deployment of contractors to all three sections of the Benin-Asaba Federal Road, overriding the concessionaire's objections to emergency intervention. Umahi said the road's worsening condition necessitated public interest taking precedence over the concession agreement, and contractors will restore failed sections at federal expense. He also announced that over 80% of inherited federal roads are under rehabilitation, President Tinubu approved the redesign of the 400km Lokoja-Benin-Warri road, and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road will be completed by December.
