A dispute over campaign billboards has emerged in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with the state government asserting it is enforcing advertising regulations and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleging an attempt to weaken the opposition. The controversy arose after billboards belonging to PDP governorship candidate Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu were removed from major locations in Ilorin, including Agaka and Adabata Junction, and days after another was taken down at the Geri Alimi Underpass. The PDP accused the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of using state agencies against political opponents. The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) dismissed the allegation, stating the enforcement is part of its statutory responsibility and not targeted at any party.
