The Commissioner of Police for Sokoto State, Hayatu Shafa, has warned political party leaders that they will be held accountable for any breach of peace by their supporters during the forthcoming elections. He gave the warning during a strategic engagement with chairmen of political parties and members of the press in Sokoto. The meeting was convened to formalize a binding framework for peaceful campaigns in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The CP emphasized that the elections are a contest of ideas, not a war, and listed five pillars to guide political activities in the state.
