Diphtheria: Plateau Death Toll Rises To 27, Lagos Confirms 6 Cases

Suspected cases of diphtheria in Plateau State have risen to 303, with the death toll increasing to 27. The state epidemiologist, Dr. Maren Damulak, said most of the suspected cases were recorded in Jos North local government area, with the Rikkos community being one of the worst affected. Children account for a significant proportion of those affected. Meanwhile, Lagos State has confirmed six cases of diphtheria out of 53 suspected infections this year, according to the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi. The Lagos State government is taking measures to contain the outbreak.
