Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, is set to begin a North American tour ahead of the 2027 general elections. The tour will take him to the United States and Canada, including a stop in Washington, D.C., where he will also reunite with his immediate family. In recent months, Sowore has faced multiple arrests, detentions, and prosecutions related to his political activities and public statements, involving the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services. Most recently, the DSS directed its prosecutors to pause a cybercrime case against him over his description of President Bola Tinubu as a criminal. During his stay in North America, Sowore is expected to meet with Nigerians in the diaspora.
