New Academic Session: Parents face hurdles as fees, cost of books, others escalate

As a new academic session begins, parents and guardians are facing hurdles due to increased tuition fees, high cost of books and rising hostel accommodation. Checks across primary, secondary and tertiary institutions showed that parents are paying more than last session. Prices of textbooks in core subjects at basic education and senior secondary levels have gone up by 25 to 30 percent. A bookseller in Agege, Lagos, attributed the increase to limited publishers and authors for those subjects.
