The Police in Benue State on Wednesday arrested 46 suspects allegedly involved in obstructing the movement of National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi during his visit to the state. Obi was prevented from proceeding to Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area by stick-wielding youths who blocked his convoy and threw stones. The community was where over a hundred residents were killed in attacks by armed invaders in June last year, and Obi was on his way to sympathize with them. State Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu paraded the suspects at the command headquarters in Makurdi and said they were arrested through undercover operations and would be charged to court after investigations.
