One of McKinsey's top AI leaders explains how it's stopping staff from overspending on tokens

McKinsey & Company has implemented internal controls to manage staff usage of AI tokens, according to Debasish Patnaik, who leads QuantumBlack in the UK. The firm tracks consumption on a user-by-user basis and sends email alerts when employees' AI usage gets too high. The system, introduced firmwide in the summer, aims to help consultants use AI cost-effectively without imposing caps. The approach is similar to managing mobile data usage on a work phone.
