The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has condemned the killing of Kano-based social media political commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu. In a statement issued in Abuja by National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA warned that rising threats against outspoken Nigerians could endanger the 2027 general elections. The organisation noted that Amnesty International Nigeria confirmed Dan Shagamu was killed and his body found in a pool of blood at his residence in Kano, but said the circumstances and motive remain unclear. HURIWA urged security authorities to conduct a credible and thorough investigation.
