The Centre for Social Justice has called on the Federal Government to immediately release funds for the implementation of the 2026 capital budget. In an open letter to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, the organisation warned that continued delays undermine the Constitution, the Fiscal Responsibility Act and the Appropriation Act. The letter, signed by CSJ Lead Director Eze Onyekpere and dated September 9, 2026, was received at the minister's office. Similar letters were sent to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. CSJ also accused the National Assembly of oversight failure and asked the Finance Minister to publicly explain the delay, citing Section 48(1) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
