Senator John Owan Enoh, Minister of State for Industry and Chairman of the Industrial Revolution Work Group, stated that Nigeria must translate its N372.8 trillion rebased economy into higher manufacturing output, jobs, and value addition. He noted that while rebasing enlarged the statistical size of the economy, it did not fundamentally change its productive structure, with manufacturing contributing less than 10 percent of output and services over half. Enoh spoke in Lagos on Monday at the second technical session of the group, challenging policymakers to focus on building productive capacity rather than just measuring the economy.
