Dr Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, has endorsed Saudi Arabia's planned reform of Nigeria's Hajj system, which includes a phased 30 per cent migration of Nigeria's pilgrims' quota to the Business-to-Business (B2B) tour operator model for the 2027 pilgrimage. She spoke at a policy communication engagement on the proposed reforms, describing the initiative as a measure to improve efficiency and smooth conduct of Hajj operations. Mahmoud emphasized that Nigeria, as a law-abiding country, would respect the reforms but stressed the need for adequate transition arrangements. She welcomed the phased implementation, saying it would give Nigeria sufficient time to adjust while ensuring Hajj operations remain smooth.
