The Governing Council of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project has pledged to address challenges slowing the Ogoni oil spill clean-up, remediation and restoration exercise. The council identified funding, flooding and accessibility as major challenges affecting timely execution of projects in the affected communities in Rivers State. Its leader, Prof. Nwibere Barinedum Michael, said the funding challenge was resolved following the approval and release of funds by the Federal Government, and that delays by some contractors resulted from procedures guiding access.
