The Kano State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a young man who cut off his own finger after being promised ₦80 million in an alleged occult arrangement. Police spokesman CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the incident happened on August 29, 2026, when 27-year-old Yusuf Mahmuda of Rano went to the police station to lodge a complaint. Kiyawa said Yusuf told officers that someone had asked him to procure a living human finger in exchange for ₦80 million, and after failing to find one, he allegedly took a knife and severed his own left-hand finger, which he delivered to the person who made the demand. Investigations led to the arrest of four other suspects alongside Yusuf, including Abdurrahman Abbas.
