Algeria cuts diplomatic ties with the UAE

Algeria announced on Thursday that it is severing diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates, accusing Abu Dhabi of interfering in its national and regional affairs. Algiers cited "provocative and hostile acts" and said the decision came after exhausting all avenues to preserve bilateral relations. Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has previously referred to the UAE as a "micro-state" seeking to destabilize countries such as Libya, Mali, and Sudan. The Emirati foreign ministry expressed hope that the decision would be temporary to maintain "fraternal ties."
