The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) has engaged stakeholders from the private and public sectors to design a new framework for financial intelligence sharing. The high-level engagement, supported by the British High Commission in Nigeria and the Convention for Business Integrity, brought together regulators, banks, insurance companies, fintechs, Virtual Asset Service Providers, technology firms, and others to co-design the proposed Joint Financial Intelligence Collaboration (JFIC). The initiative aims to create a trusted platform for public and private-sector institutions to work together more effectively to identify emerging threats and disrupt illicit financial activities. The move is considered a significant step toward enhancing the integrity and resilience of the country's financial system.
