I regret sharing false shutdown notice against OPay – Social media user

Hafsat Abubakar, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre for spreading a false notice that OPay had shut down. The notice, which went viral last week, claimed the fintech bank would cease operations in Nigeria from September 1, causing panic before OPay dismissed the rumours. In a recorded video while being paraded by police on Thursday, Abubakar admitted she did not verify the information with OPay before reposting it. She expressed regret and asked Nigerians for forgiveness.
