Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has shared the story behind a song he wrote for Beyoncé in 2019. In an interview with One54 Africa, he explained that the song took six years to release because the death of his father caused him to lose interest in it. Gold described the initial excitement of writing for Beyoncé, whom he calls his GOAT, but said the loss deeply affected him. The song was eventually released in 2025 and is featured on his personal album.
