Stock Market Rebounds, Gains N100.5bn on Demand for Seplat

The Nigerian stock market rebounded on the day under review, with volume rising by 161.79 per cent to 1.4 billion shares and market capitalisation closing higher by N100.5 billion amid demand for Seplat Energy Plc and 22 others. Seplat Energy's stock price gained 10 per cent, driving the Nigerian Exchange Limited All-Share Index (NGX ASI) up by 155.03 basis points or 0.06 per cent to close at 242,378.13 basis points. The overall market capitalisation rose to N157.150 trillion. Sectoral performance was mixed, with the Oil & Gas and Banking indices advancing while Consumer Goods and Insurance indices declined, and the Industrial Goods index closed flat. Market breadth was negative, with 23 gainers against 29 losers.
