Cardoso: NES Award Validates CBN’s Reforms, Commitment to Macroeconomic Stability

Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso has described the Nigerian Economic Society's Distinguished Organisation Award as a validation of the apex bank's reforms and its pursuit of macroeconomic stability. The award was presented at the NES 67th Annual Conference held in Abuja from September 7 to 10, 2026, and received by Dr. Victor Oboh, Director of the Monetary Policy Department. The recognition comes amid reforms in the monetary, foreign exchange, and financial sectors over the past three years, including foreign exchange market reforms, clearance of longstanding obligations, cessation of Ways and Means financing, implementation of Payment System Vision 2028, and banking industry recapitalisation.
