The United States has announced a fresh delivery of defence equipment to Nigeria as part of ongoing national and international efforts to counter the activities of terrorists and other violent extremist groups. The latest consignment, delivered over the weekend, is part of the existing Nigeria–United States defence cooperation aimed at tackling terrorism and insurgency. The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) disclosed that the military equipment was airlifted to Nigeria aboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 aircraft. In a post on its verified X account, AFRICOM stated that the equipment is part of a foreign military sales agreement that furthers the U.S.-Nigerian partnership and will aid in Nigeria's efforts to counter terrorism in the region. AFRICOM did not disclose the nature or quantity of the equipment.
