The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development spent N522,490,349 on guns and ammunition that were not delivered, according to the Auditor-General for the Federation's 2024 Annual Report on Non-Compliance and Internal Control Weaknesses. The report states that N270,020,066.80 was paid in January and May 2023 to purchase AK Rifles, Red Dots, and AK Ammunition for airport security, but the ministry lacked approval from the National Security Adviser and failed to provide due process documents. Another N252,470,282.20 was paid in February and May 2023 for Sub-Machine Guns, Pistols, and Ammunition. The audit report highlights these payments as non-compliant.
