An Abuja Magistrate's Court has sentenced 22-year-old Daniel Onusiriuko to one year in prison for fraudulently accessing a Moniepoint account and transferring about N30 million belonging to a victim. Onusiriuko, of Grow Home Estate, Chikakore, Kubwa, Abuja, was convicted after he posed as a Moniepoint agent and deceived the victim, Udeh Chukwuma Samuel, into handing over his mobile phone under the pretext of processing a loan. He used the opportunity to obtain the victim's username, password, and PIN, which he used to gain unauthorised access to the account and transfer the funds. Part of the stolen money was used to purchase an iPhone 17 valued at N1.29 million, household items, and pay house rent. Police recovered N1 million in cash and other items worth about N3 million linked to the proceeds of the crime. Musa Eneye Abdulraza delivered the judgment.
