‘FCT natives need concrete laws for protection’

Comrade Ezikel Musa Dalhatu, the Accord senatorial candidate in the FCT for the 2027 election, said he would initiate a bill with the support of his colleagues in the Senate to ensure laws protect both the indigenous people and residents of the territory. Speaking during the party's affirmation stakeholders meeting in Abuja, he said there has never been any concrete law protecting the indigenous people and residents of the FCT over the past 50 years. He expressed frustration that natives' houses are being demolished and their ancestral lands taken away, displacing them without proper alternative or compensation by the government. He added that protecting the indigenous communities also protects the residents because they live together with the natives.
