Operations at the Idu Train Station in Abuja have been restored after a fire outbreak damaged some electrical installations at the facility. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the incident, stating that there was no loss of life and that train services along the Abuja-Kaduna route remained unaffected. The fire occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and affected the station’s low-voltage electrical room. According to NRC spokesperson Callistus Unyimadu, the incident was promptly brought under control by maintenance personnel, and preliminary inspection showed that some electrical supply cables connected to the control panels were damaged, while the station’s alternative solar power system remained unaffected. Power was subsequently restored to the station’s lifts and escalators, with five of the six facilities operational.
