2027: IGP vows ‘safe, secure’ vote despite insecurity

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has vowed that the 2027 national polls will be safe and secure despite the country's insecurity challenges. In an interview with AFP, he said officers are being trained to improve efforts for a perfect election. Nigeria has a history of election-related violence, a jihadist insurgency, and a kidnapping crisis. President Bola Tinubu is expected to seek re-election in January.
