Urhobo Traditional Rulers Back Oborevwori’s Re-election

The Ukoko R' Ivie R' Urhobo, an umbrella body of Urhobo traditional rulers, has endorsed Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for re-election in the 2027 general election. The royal fathers said their decision was based on the need to address pressing issues affecting political stability ahead of the governorship poll. Chairman of the group and Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sideso, stated at a press briefing that while the royal fathers remain apolitical, they cannot stay silent when political developments threaten the security, well-being, and social harmony of their subjects. He noted a recent rise in political tension, hostility, and political thuggery across Urhobo land, warning that they will not watch their sons and daughters tear themselves apart over political ambitions.
