The Federal Government has launched a programme to professionalise 250,000 serving teachers who lack recognised teaching qualifications. The initiative, known as the Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway (ATPP), is a six-month programme scheduled to begin in October 2026. The National Teachers' Institute (NTI) in Kaduna has been designated as the coordinating secretariat by the Federal Ministry of Education, under the supervision of Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa. The programme aims to close long-standing qualification gaps in the teaching workforce without removing unqualified teachers from classrooms.
