N’ Assembly Suspends South Africa Visits, Boycotts Legislative Activities Over Xenophobic Attacks

The National Assembly has suspended all official visits to South Africa and directed its lawmakers, committees, officials, and staff to boycott legislative activities hosted by South African authorities. The decision follows reports of persistent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa. The National Assembly expressed grave concern over the attacks, including killings, violence, intimidation, and destruction of property. The suspension will remain in force until further notice, according to a statement signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.
