Breaking: Abducted FUTO students regain freedom

Two female students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), who were abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026, along the stretch between the institution and Ihiagwa community, have regained their freedom. The university's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Orakwe Ezugwu, confirmed the release in a press statement on Friday, stating that the students are currently receiving medical care and psychological support at the FUTO Medical Centre. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.N.S. Dozie, visited the students and interacted with them. The university management commended the police and other security agencies for their prompt intervention.
