The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and unions in the air transport sector have disagreed over the picketing of Air Peace over non-remittance of the Ticket Sales Charge and refusal to allow workers to unionise. AON spokesperson Professor Obiora Okonkwo said Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines were initially targeted in the picketing by NUATE and ATSSSAN, backed by the NLC and TUC, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. ATSSSAN National President John Ogbe disagreed, saying the push to unionise workers was driven by a commitment to partnership and industry stability, not disruption.
