The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Cross River State Branch, has awarded Governor Bassey Otu its Platinum Meritorious Service Award for his administration's achievements in healthcare. The award, unanimously approved at the association's Annual General Meeting, recognizes improvements in healthcare funding, human-resource development, infrastructure, institutional reforms, and security. A former NMA chairman noted that health-sector budgetary allocation under Governor Otu has consistently exceeded 10 percent, compared to the previous five to six percent.
