UK lawmakers throw out bill to legalise assisted dying

British MPs rejected a bill to legalise assisted dying in a knife-edge vote on Friday. The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill was struck down by 286 votes against and 270 in favour after hours of debate. The bill would have allowed certain terminally ill adults in England and Wales the option to end their lives.
