An Islamic cleric, Malam Musa Lukwa, was stabbed in the neck shortly after leading Juma'at prayer at his mosque in Mabera area of Sokoto metropolis on Friday. The attacker, identified as Mai Barew, was among worshippers and struck immediately after the prayer. Worshippers overpowered the suspect and beat him to death. The incident was reportedly linked to a previous sermon by the cleric that cited a Hadith considered offensive by some Islamic scholars, particularly those associated with the Tariqa order.
