Four mobile policemen and eight villagers were reportedly killed on Friday morning when armed invaders attacked Ayilamo community in Tombo Ward of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State. Locals said the attackers, numbering over 200, invaded through Alufu road from neighbouring Taraba State, shooting residents and setting houses ablaze. A resident, Tyolumun Ugande, said a detachment of mobile policemen engaged the attackers in a gun battle that lasted several hours from Thursday. The community had come under repeated attacks, prompting calls for increased security presence.
