The Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) is preparing to accelerate adoption and transaction growth across Africa as it enters the next phase of its strategy. CEO Mike Ogbalu III said at a media briefing in Lagos that the platform now operates in more than 30 African countries across all five regions, connecting 24 central banks, over 200 commercial banks and payment service providers, and 16 switches. Through partnerships, PAPSS provides a termination footprint covering more than 300 financial institutions. About 10 additional countries joined the ecosystem in 2026, with further expansion expected before year-end.
