A succession dispute has erupted in Uganda's Tooro royal family following the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV last month in the United States, where he was receiving cancer treatment. Queen Mother Best Kemigisa said soldiers removed the palace's royal guards without notice and deployed troops around the palace, adding that she and other members of the royal household cannot leave or receive people freely. The dispute arose after a selection committee from the Babiito royal clan began the process of choosing a successor. King Oyo ascended the throne at the age of three and reigned for 31 years, and was recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's youngest reigning monarch.
