The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested Manaseh Bitrus Jatau over the alleged killing of his girlfriend, 35-year-old Rebecca Ojonike Jeremiah, in the Romi area of Kaduna. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mansir Hassan said the deceased's body was found along Mai Angwa Street, Romi, on September 5, 2026, with cotton wool stuffed in her nose, and was taken to St. Gerald Hospital, Kakuri, where a doctor confirmed her death. Preliminary investigation indicated Jatau was the last person to call the deceased to meet him at Ebano Joint, Romi, and detectives traced and arrested him at his workplace, Tomato Jos Company, Maraban Jos. The suspect confessed during interrogation, and the corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
