Nelly Monday, a 53-year-old woman, was arrested in the Meiran area of Lagos on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, for allegedly dumping refuse into a drainage channel during rainfall. She was arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Bolade, Oshodi, where she pleaded guilty to the environmental offence. The court subsequently convicted and sentenced her to one month in prison. The Lagos Waste Management Authority disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday.
