The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police has inaugurated the State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe Schools Initiative in Umuahia, the state capital. At the event, Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi highlighted the command's ongoing operational efforts to ensure security and safeguard schools across the state, including routine patrols around educational institutions, daily monitoring of area commands and divisions, and documentation of security activities for accountability and responsiveness. The CP commended the PCRC for what he described as a bold and timely initiative, noting that community-driven support remains critical to effective policing. He encouraged the PCRC to sustain the momentum, deepen stakeholder collaboration, and ensure the initiative translates into visible safety outcomes in schools across the state.
