Powerful blocs within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed opposition to the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement said to be facilitated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The APC groups argue that the coalition could harm the party's candidates in the 2027 elections and undermine President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. Wike, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), maintains that the Rainbow Coalition is fully supportive of Tinubu and claims his political actions are driven by his support for the president. Critics contend that the coalition's strategy of fielding candidates from multiple parties may confuse voters, particularly in rural areas, and potentially reduce Tinubu's vote share.
