‘Where do we sleep?’ – NYSC members lament accommodation crisis nationwide

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have raised concerns over a nationwide accommodation crisis. The NYSC scheme, established on May 22, 1973, by the military administration of General Yakubu Gowon, requires Nigerian graduates under 30 to undergo a 21-day orientation camp and a year of service in a state other than their own. Since its inception, the scheme has faced various challenges, including inadequate accommodation for corps members, even during the orientation camp. The issue persists after camp, with corps members struggling to find suitable housing during their service year.
