Alarm in Lagos markets, as fraudsters target 125 business owners

Police have identified 125 businessmen in Lagos markets as potential targets of fraud syndicates. The gangs study successful traders, identify their commodities, and devise schemes to lure them into fake business deals. In some instances, victims were kidnapped and held hostage until ransom was paid. One case involved a tyre merchant lured to Ogun State and held captive until about N24 million was collected. Arrests have exposed a wider operation.
