The Federal Government launched the Household Prosperity and Economic/Empowerment Social Protection Project (HOPE-SP) on August 26, 2026, aiming to shift from palliatives to pathways. The $1 billion initiative, led by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, targets 7.6 million vulnerable households with one-off digital cash transfers of about N40,000. Beneficiaries will be tracked along a poverty graduation pathway toward self-reliance. The programme is part of the One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) to coordinate humanitarian response and social protection.
